Joseph Schneider is the president of JSA Partners, Inc., previously known as JSA International. Since founding the practice in 1981, Mr. Schneider has been focused on providing strategic advice to senior corporate management in the aerospace, defense and security industries, as well as industrial policy support to the U.S. Department of Defense. From 1990 to 1994 he also managed the firm’s Paris office.
JSA International was acquired in 1994 by Electronic Data Systems and later merged into their consulting subsidiary AT Kearney, where Joseph was an engagement director. In 1997 Mr. Schneider and key associates re-established JSA Partners as an independent, strategy focused consulting organization.
Mr. Schneider has had the privilege of being a board member for three defense companies and he directly facilitated the sale of each company to a strategic buyer:
- Signal Technology (1997-2003) – $100 million defense electronics company traded on NASDAQ, acquired by Crane.
- United Industrial: (1998-2004) $500 million dollar defense systems & services company traded on the NYSE, later acquired by Textron.
- NovaSol (2005-2016) –Employee-owned defense hyperspectral imaging and communications company acquired by Corning.
Previously, Mr. Schneider attained the rank of captain in the US Army serving primarily as an infantry officer and in Special Forces units.
Mr. Schneider holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School; a master of arts degree in international relations from the University of Southern California; and a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Joseph has also completed postgraduate studies at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He grew up in Bucharest, Paris and the Bronx, and he is fluent in English, French and Romanian.
